A Simple Way to Keep Cavities Away
Cavities love to hide in the deep grooves of your child’s back teeth—but dental sealants make it much harder for them to sneak in. At Polished Pediatric Dentistry, we offer this quick, gentle preventive treatment to give your child’s molars a little extra armor against tooth decay.
Sealants are one of the easiest (and most effective) ways to help your child avoid cavities—especially during those early years of brushing independence. Our team makes the process fun, fast, and stress-free for kids of all ages.
Why Parents Love Sealants:
- Protects cavity-prone molars from decay
- Painless and quick—no numbing needed!
- Long-lasting protection with just one visit
The Dental Sealants Process
Getting Started
We’ll first examine your child’s teeth to determine if sealants are a good option. We typically recommend sealants for kids around age 6 (when their first molars come in) and again around age 12 (for second molars). We’ll walk you through what to expect and answer any questions before we begin.

The Dental Sealants Process
Quick & Gentle Treatment
The sealant process is completely painless—no shots or drills involved! We’ll gently clean and dry the teeth, apply a special solution to help the sealant bond, and then brush on the protective material. A quick light-cure hardens the sealant in seconds.

The Dental Sealants Process
Healthy Smile Protection
Your child can eat and drink right after their appointment. Sealants can last several years with proper care, and we’ll check them at every visit to make sure they’re still doing their job. No extra brushing steps required—just a little peace of mind.

Our Approach to Preventive Care
At Polished Pediatric Dentistry, we believe prevention is the best kind of dental care. Sealants are just one of the many ways we help children avoid dental problems before they start. We tailor recommendations based on your child’s age, risk factors, and daily habits—and we make sure you’re always in the loop.
FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Dental Sealants-FAQ 1
Absolutely. Sealants are approved by the American Dental Association and have been safely used in pediatric dentistry for decades. They simply coat the surface of the tooth to block food and bacteria from settling in.
Dental Sealants-FAQ 2
Nope—they work together! Fluoride strengthens teeth, while sealants physically block the areas that are hardest to clean. Both play a key role in cavity prevention.
Dental Sealants-FAQ 3
With proper care, sealants can protect teeth for up to 5–10 years. We’ll check them at each checkup and reapply if needed to keep your child’s smile strong.
